Hi I’m Andy Pearson,

 

I was so transformed by Pilates after it saved me from long term back pain. I was inspired to become a teacher.

Over the last ten years I have made it my mission to become an expert in getting to the root cause of my clients joint pain and provide affective solutions to put clients back in control of their bodies.

I’ve worked successfully with a wide range of people from professional athletes to those with hyper-mobility and M.S.

I don't just tell you what moves to do, I will explain the root cause of your pain, and give you the power to keep your joints safe and strong every day, not just in class. 

It's so rewarding for me to see Pilates make a big difference in people’s lives.

I am a fully certified Polestar Pilates and one of the few teachers in the UK trained by Katy Bowman in her Restorative Exercise Specialist program and I incorporate her work into my classes.

A number of years ago, I was suffering from back pain due to working long hours in an office job. A friend recommended I try Pilates. The moves were challenging and required considerable practice, but after six months of regular classes, the pain disappeared. My overall strength and posture improved, my range of mobility gradually increased and I learned a lot about anatomy, thanks to Andy! In 2018, I registered for teacher training with the aim to build upon my own Pilates practice, as well as gain a deeper understanding in the fundamentals. I trained with Brigid McCarthy Pilates Studio in Edinburgh and qualified as a teacher at the end of 2018. It proved to be a huge turning point in my life and my career, and now, incredibly special to be part of the teaching team at Leith Pilates after so many years a client!

Hi there! I originally trained as a dancer at the Rambert School of Dance in west London and after a career lasting 30 years as a professional dancer, contemporary dance teacher and choreographer, I started looking for a new challenge to keep me fit and utilise my teaching

skills.

My husband had been enjoying Andy’s beginners class and I decided to join up for a term.  I loved the classes and immediately could see the physical and health benefits from doing pilates on a regular basis.  I embarked on a training programme with Brigid McCarthy and qualified as a pilates instructor in 2016.  I am enjoying being part of the team at Leith Pilates and delighted to see people improve their mobility by taking part in classes. I also teach several classes a week at the MS Therapy Centre Lothian.

As the manager of both Leith Pilates and The Pilates Attic, I love introducing people to the world of Pilates and seeing them reap the benefits.  Over the years I’ve welcomed everyone - from busy parents to stressed office workers, athletes to couch-potatoes – whatever your schedule, it’s my job to help you fit Pilates into your life.

 

I’m also a Pilates lover myself – you’ll often see me joining classes at the shore, or hula-hooping at The Pilates Attic.  It’s great being part of a Pilates family, so do feel free to say hello if you see me in class.

I first came to Pilates after having my twins in 2010, but it was when I started my classes with Andy in 2017 that I really began to understand how important movement, alignment and exercise really was, especially as I have hyper-mobility.

 

Health and exercise has always been an interest and the teachers at Leith Pilates really bring these two areas together in all their classes.

 

Through running my own business as a Life & Business Coach I have oodles of social media and brand management experience, so when Andy and Ruth were looking to add to their team I jumped at the chance to be involved.
